Most of these photographs were shot as 4"x5" black and white
negatives for purposes of historic documentation before the structures and
equipment were demolished or scrapped. In nearly all cases these are
the last photographs taken of the site before it was gone.

These narratives generally focus on a specific site, although some
document a local or regional industry in order to provide context for a
particular site. Most sites are in the New York City area.
